Our Approach

Most support for ADHD focuses on strategies.

But strategies only work when they match the problem.

When something isn’t working—homework, transitions, getting out the door—it’s not random.

It’s a breakdown somewhere in the process of doing.

Our work starts by identifying where that breakdown is happening—so we can respond in a way that actually helps.

Child With Guardian

Our Philosophy

At Better Rhythms, we view behavior through an executive functioning lens.

What often looks like resistance, avoidance, or inconsistency is usually a breakdown in the underlying processes that allow a child to plan, start, sustain, regulate, and follow through.

When we understand where things are breaking down, we can shift from reacting to behavior to supporting the process behind it.

START
Can my child
get going?

Starting is often the hardest part. This is where kids get stuck, avoid, or need a lot of prompting.

The Rhythm of Doing™

Every task comes down to three simple questions:

When you know where things are breaking down, you can respond more effectively—and your child can build independence over time.

STAY
Can my child
keep going?

Once they begin, can they stay focused, manage frustration, and follow through?

FINISH
Can my child
wrap it up?

Can they complete the task, check their work, and transition to what’s next?

How We Work

Instead of guessing or trying more strategies, we help you figure out exactly where your child is getting stuck.

Then we build the right support for that moment—so things feel easier, more predictable, and more successful at home.

Underneath these moments are skills like attention, memory, flexibility, and emotional regulation—but you don’t need to sort that out alone. That’s our role.

1. Identify the Breakdown

We look at real-life situations and figure out exactly where things are breaking down for your child.

We connect those breakdowns to executive functioning processes so behavior starts to make sense.

2. Understand What’s
Underneath
1. Identify the Breakdown
2. Understand What’s Underneath

3. Match the Right Support

We design supports that fit the specific breakdown—reducing friction and making tasks more manageable.

4. Build Awareness and Independence

As children grow, we help them understand their own patterns so they can begin to take ownership and develop independence.

Outcome

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s a home that feels calmer, more predictable, and more connected.

When the right supports are in place:
• Tasks feel more manageable
• Follow-through improves
• Emotional intensity decreases
• And relationships get stronger

Over time, your child builds the awareness and skills they need to function more independently — with you as their guide along the way.
